Racial justice at OpenSesame

We want OpenSesame to reflect the diversity of the communities we serve and the world we live in. For far too many decades, we have seen the discrimination, oppression, and pain that BIPOC communities have endured. America has not made enough progress to eradicate racism.

OpenSesame believes Black lives matter, and we’re committed to unlearning and dismantling the racist structures that are pervasive in our society today. We work with our employees, customers, business partners, and communities to use the powerful tools of training and education to eliminate racism.

We believe it is necessary, but not sufficient, to deconstruct the systems that perpetuate systemic institutional racism. We must also work to build self-sustaining systems that both prevent the resurgence of racism and accelerate the advancement of people of color.

Improving our DEI customer service and products

We’ve promoted DEI to a top-level category in our course catalog, are strengthening our courses by partnering with the top publishers; and are building out new tools and support resources to guide our customers.

Continuing to invest in our people

We’re identifying and eliminating workplace biases by working with a DEI professional focused on providing education across all teams and auditing our programs and processes.

We’re prioritizing equitable hiring and internal progression, focusing on recruitment and progression programs that ensure underrepresented communities have the access and empowerment they deserve.

And we’re helping our ERGs (Employee Resource Groups) to cultivate an inclusive environment and meet the unique needs and issues of the diverse workforce at OpenSesame.
