iAM Learning is a leading off-the-shelf content provider known for its unique style and high-quality animations. The company designs content that emphasises practical application to drive behavioural change, encourages learner enjoyment, and promotes engaging presentation.
Their approach rests on three key pillars:
1. The power of storytelling
“Think about your favourite film or book — how characters and their narratives captivate your emotions. Our content leverages the universal appeal of storytelling to enhance learning engagement and retention,” explains Tom Moore, Chief Operating Officer of iAM Learning.
2. Expertise in learning design
iAM Learning courses blend visual communication, animation and storytelling into concise 10 to 15-minute bite-sized learning modules. This content production process is driven by a team of learning and instructional designers, with subject matter and industry experts curating resources from high-quality sources. iAM Learning focuses on solid educational methodologies to create impactful learning experiences.
3. Focusing on quality over quantity
“We prioritise crafting compelling learning experiences over merely increasing content volume. We use animations to simplify complex issues, making them easier to understand, while adding humour and storytelling—approaches that are scientifically proven to enhance retention, reduce cognitive load and increase engagement,” Moore notes, adding “our content is designed to be accessible and appealing, especially to mobile users in sectors like hospitality, retail, and manufacturing. This approach ensures our offerings are responsive, scalable, and suited to a diverse learner base.”
Expanding access to a global audience OpenSesame and iAM Learning first teamed up in 2019, and it’s been a clear win-win for both organisations. “Our longstanding partnership with OpenSesame has been instrumental in achieving a global presence,” says Moore. “Being part of OpenSesame’s content marketplace has significantly broadened our reach, allowing us to impact a wider audience than we could on our own,” he explains.
The iAM Learning content library includes a wide variety of topics, such as compliance, health and safety, mental health and wellbeing, leadership skills, and environmental, social, and governance principles. There is also content focusing on belonging, equity, diversity, and inclusion , power skills and psychological safety. And, recently, iAM Learning enriched its Cybersecurity Collection offerings with multiple languages, including Spanish, French, and German.
“Based on continuous feedback from our customers and partners, we constantly enhance and add to our course library, aiming to address the 80 percent of topics that a business typically needs,” notes Moore, adding “our OpenSesame partnership enhances both our brand visibility and our content quality. The uploading system is easy to use and slick, making it quick to add new content that is then released in real time. This process runs smoothly, which saves a lot of our time.”
Identifying gaps and boosting revenue
“Comparing last year to the previous, our revenue from the OpenSesame marketplace has grown by approximately 50 percent with expectations for further acceleration, thanks to the multiple languages that have been added recently,” Moore highlights. “The data from OpenSesame has helped us identify which courses to start with, as well as which languages would perform better—in turn, this understanding of ROI allowed us to prepare an internal business case to raise capital to complete the work, as well as secure future capital for follow on rounds. Potential upcoming translation includes our mental health and wellbeing collection.”
“We have been working with OpenSesame for a number of years,” says Moore. “Our relationship is built on a shared understanding of learning’s transformative power. The partnership is not just transactional but strategic, fostering a dynamic exchange of feedback and ideas for mutual growth.”
This two-way dialogue is key to identifying new opportunities.
“The data provided suggests that revenue could triple based on the availability of translated content. And OpenSesame does a great job identifying gaps in the market, as well as what content their customers want to see, which helps us create the right content at the right time for the right audience,” says Moore.
Using feedback to improve content
Together, the two organisations aren’t just expanding iAM Learning’s selection of content, they’re upping its quality, too. “The OpenSesame team supports us not only in reaching a global audience but also in achieving excellence and innovation in content creation,” Moore notes. “We utilise real-time reporting tools and dashboards to monitor our content’s performance and gather insights during our quarterly business reviews with OpenSesame. Over the last few years we’ve seen course ratings improve from around 3.97 stars to 4.23 stars. Understanding our content performance helps us to continuously improve. We also receive verbatim and anecdotal feedback, and that also drives us to improve our production processes” Moore adds.
“The OpenSesame team is very friendly and helpful, so we feel we can always reach out to them, ensuring we continuously offer the most engaging and effective content,” he concludes. With such a strong, long-lasting partnership benefitting both businesses, great things are on the horizon.
